Crying in rear facing car seat!

Ryker has been regularly crying out his lungs when sat in car seat too long. Ever since, i converted it to rear facing, he gets cranky when the journey get too long. I can't blame him, i think he just wanted to see my presence. When it was front facing, he was totally happy in it. The moment i turned my head behind, he would smile at me! Things changed as direction changed. =( I have been cracking my head everyday for a solution till i see this:

Munchkin Safe View Mirror

The mirror is meant to be attached under the rear view mirror. I never wanted a view of Lil R from my driving seat as i'm afraid i would get distracted. Today, while driving to work, i figured out that i could stick it at the board beside the window! Hmm, i dunno what's e actual board is called so i just called it board. Haha. Before i went up to my office, i took a while to adjust the angle so that i could view the driver from the car seat. Then i went to the driver seat and check. I could see myself in the mirror so does that mean that Ryker can see me?? Hmm.. I must go experiment it later in the evening.

Really hope it works! Will attached a pic of the mirror done up in the car if my brain permits! =P

Feeling a little proud with the work done! Haha! Felt like i've done a man's job! Lol

Biting!

He has been biting me when breastfeeding! If i expected the bite, i would give him a stern 'No' then 'Bad Boy!' If i didn't expect the bite, i would let out a scream. =( It's real painful! I cannot breastfeed in public anymore coz i need to watch him like an eagle. Hubby been asking me to give up latching on.. but i felt that i took SO MUCH effort in establishing it, it would be kinda wasted to jus let go due to this.

I learnt that if i tried to stuff my breast to him when he's done with it, he definitely would bite.
I learnt that the best way to prevent him from biting is to latch on only when he showed tremendous signs of hunger! haha

Can someone help me with the biting? I seriously can't imagine if he grow two more front tooth!

First tooth!

Felt his first little tooth when he accidentally put my finger into his mouth on 4/4/10 morning! My lil boy is growing up so fast.

Coming 5 months!

Well, Ryker is almost 5 months old. Time flies. I was puzzled by why he still haven't sleep through the night. I tried ignoring his fidgeting in his sleep, refusing to pat him, waiting for him to settle down by himself. Obviously, it didn't work. He ended up wide awake in the middle of the night! Things would be much more convenient if we pat him immediately or give him my breast to nurse. Books said it would lead to problems when he's older. Hmmm....

Yes, he has started on rice cereal when he was 4 months 2 weeks. Initially, i tried to see if his tongue-thrust reflex is present. If it was, it would just mean he was not ready for semi-solid. Anyway, the first small spoonful got push out by his tongue. I tried again, and he got it pretty fast. He could swallow! And he was enjoying the rice cereal. Right now, as compared to the first try, he can swallow much better and was always eating with excitement! His legs and hands would be moving so fast that i'm worried he will knock down the bowl! =)

He could flip now but not smoothly. He is standing at a weight of 8.8kg! I have no idea why he is so heavy. Probably he just has heavy bones like his parents. He doesn't look obese kind of fat =p. His neck is pretty much well supported and he could sit up straight with help. I'm pretty glad that he's one smiley kid too! Sometimes, i just can't stand how my MIL claimed all good points to her son. She always go " Ryker is so much like Yida when he was young" " He is exactly like Yida! So smiley!" Blah blah blah Hey, XY chromosomes, the 'X' comes from ME! 'Y' don't contain as much genetic material as 'X'! Bleah!

Babies grow up so fast! Very soon, i can expect my little Ryker to be sitting up. Yida will be away for 3 weeks and i'm sure he would see a big difference on his precious son upon his return. Meanwhile, i'm pretty excited to take on the one-man show!

Flipped!

Today, Ryker flipped for the first time. =)

The truth

The sudden decrease in appetite had send warning signals to his daddy. And he finally said, "let's go find Dr Ong." So we went early in the morning. We were awared of the long waiting time, and there was already queue at 830am. (The clinic opened at 9am).

As you all know, he has been rejecting bottles. Last night, hub managed to feed him 60ml after which he didn't manage to get him to sleep. He fussed for 1.5hr... sleep and wake up in 5 mins. Hubby ran out of patience and i took over after a nap. I reckon he wanted comfort thus i offered my breast. He slept soundly after that. He also woke up at 2 plus am, 4 plus am and 6 plus am for feeds. I didn't take notice how long he was at breast but let him decide.

We were surprised that we didn't have to wait long. The moment we told Dr Ong about what happen, he said it's normal. According to him, an average 1 yr old kid weighs about 9 to 10kg but Ryker is already 7.3kg today. If Ryker continued to grow at such rate he would be an overtly obese baby at 1 yr old, so he is self adjusting now. I called that dieting. Dr Ong mentioned he met babies who drank only 200ml a day. He asked us to look at function rather than symptoms. If the baby can sleep, smile, respond and play, he's alright with the intake now. He seemed rather unhappy that the PD we went to gave Ryker medicine for cough. He said he's too young to give strong meds. Give too strong, he knock out. Too weak, it's useless so no nd to give. If we were to go to him, he would just prepare us that he could cough for a week or two. Everything else is good for Ryker.

Oh, i asked Dr Ong why he still take my breast if he dun wan milk. He mentioned breast flow much slower and he wanted comfort to sleep, thus will readily take my breast. But he asked if i notice he stay at breast shorter period of time. Like i mentioned, i didn't take note of time now but i do realise he is not as ravenous at my breasts anymore. He just suck and doze off.

I'm glad what is happening now is pure dieting regime, not developing preference to my breast (I hope).

BOttlefeeding

Ryker has been taking bottle on and off throughout his first few months. He rejected the first bottle jus before he fell sick. Prior to that he has been on his Tommie Tippee in the day and latch on at night for a week plus. Anyway, he has gotten cough n flu from his Daddy, thus i decide to total latch on for him to get sterile milk.

It took him slightly more than a week to recover. Just when i wanted to resume the bottle routine, he rejected it when his dad fed. I was out of the house to fetch my grandpa. I received call fr hub with him crying like crazy at the background. I smelled big trouble, told hub to use the NUK teat which the hospital gave and the glass bottle we had. He called bk n said it can't fit the glass bottle. I was very puzzled. Went bk and realised tt he was actually trying to screw the cap on which e NUK teat was attached to to the glass bottle! Of coz it wun fit!! -_-

Anyway, i took out the teat and attached it onto to the cap compatible with e glass bottle n ask hub to feed. He took but only 70ml from it. Till now, he seemed to just take the amount enough for him to not feel hungry. =( Being anxious, i go try other teats. Avent and Pigeon don't work too. Hiaz..... 1 and a half week more to end of ML.

Hi~!

Hi there, this is me! Ryker Chong at 2 months 3 weeks old! Mummy didn't blog about me at all after i arrived in this world. Dun blame my mummy coz i had given her a really hard time! =P

This was how i looked like in my first month. Any changes spotted?
