Transformation

Hi everyone, this is how Baby Ryker make my belly button looked like now. As you see it's closing up. Sometimes, the water it collected during a bath will be hard to clean now haha. It's reaching 20 weeks tomorrow.
This is a shot taken in my office toilet and that's my bump for now.
I looked kinda awkward here but at least i still can angle my face for a slimmer shot. Haha... HENG!
Went to Dorothy Perkins to buy those basic tops so that it will make my bump looked bigger. That's a trick on public transport. You will get stares from those sitting down but non will give you seat, or i should say only a few will. Luckily my bump not that big to balance for now. I wonder how those with really big bump handle the ride in public transport.

Movements

Been trying to see what i eat will make Baby Ryker moves more. I guessed it's quite affirmed that he loved HL chocolate milk. Orange juice didn't please him much. Haha. Anyway, i was trying out this 'experiment' so that i can make him move more during scan on 2 July. Hope my boy boy will show some huge funny acts to his parents then!

Shrinking Brain

Since my brain is shrinking i have to post up the scientific reason behind my blurness and stupidity these days.

"The baby will take what it needs from our bodies and if we don't have enough in our diet this can leave us in short supply!
This natural process can result in the maternal brain shrinking by up to 3% during pregnancy. Scary but true! And this shows how absolutely necessary it is to follow an all-round balanced diet to keep us in tip top shape for pregnancy"
Taken from Netmums

My colleagues seriously laughed at how i tried to wrap each singular tubes with aluminum foil while i could wrap the whole rack in it. I'm excused ok? HAHA.. I was really embarrassed and felt stupid. Sometimes, it's really funny to laugh at my own stupidity. Hee.. dun worry i wun get angry over ppl laughing at me. At least, i'm finally on par with my hubby now. WAHAHHAA

Kick in his face

Ryker kicked Daddy twice on his cheek yesterday night. "It was a remarkable feeling", said Daddy.

More to come!

Fourth visit

Fourth gynae visit was yesterday 10 June 09. It was the first appointment i had without much waiting.
My tummy two days before the appointment. 17 plus weeks.
Summary of the checkout:
It wasn't as exciting as the previous visit as baby was sleeping most of the time, refusing to move even i coughed really hard. I also got back my OSCAR test results. The probabilities of all trisomy were even lower than what was calculated for my age. Guess it was all thanks to his daddy's good karma. Once again, my baby was sleeping upside down. It was almost unusual to not find him not doing headstand. This time he was in real deep sleep! The vibrations that Dr Wong made from the probe didn't even wake him up! I guessed my laksa made him very satisfied to nap so well.
The scan revealed a confirmed 'he' and yes we will be having a son. Ryker would be his name. He measured 12.9cm yesterday which was twice he was 5 weeks ago. My womb seemed to be too crampy for him to move. The only thing he moved throughout the scan was straightening his legs. Oh, we finally got to hear his heartbeat after so many months. It really sound like horse galloping! His little heart beats at 150bpm.
Oh, i have to mention my weight. I hit 60kg already! Gosh! Am supposed to gain only 1kg since last visit but i gained 2.4kg. =x Been feeling full very quickly after a meal and hungry after a while. I don't want to be a fat pig during my pregnancy! I hope to just keep in the range of 15kg weight gain.

Can you see his spine?
His right arm!
This is his face. Two eye sockets, chin and his left arm under the chin. It looked VERY much like skeleton. I tot it looked scary as well. Haha

Below is the video taken during the gynae checkup. It could be a little boring if you can't make up the parts of the baby. A pretty long video. You can hear my gynae say 'bird bird' alot of times haha.

First Mega Purchase

I heard of the motherhood fair from singaporemotherhood forum MTBs and was really glad that hubby knocked off half an hour earlier to go do some browsing. Only an hr was left to go through the exhibition hall at expo. So many cute things that we resisted buying. It is still too early to buy. However, from the discussion of MTBs, i knew that breast pumps were the most expensive thing to purchase, thus i took the opportunity to source for cheaper deals. I only saw the Avent and Medula ones. The Avent was a single pump selling at $229 (U.P $299). The Medula ones were even more ex. They could cost up to $700 plus for a dual pump. We ended up in shock after the browsing. Haha!
Discussions in forum are very useful. I popped a question on if it was worth it for the Avent pump, all of them suggested a dual pump since i'm determined to bf. Dual means faster and they said when you pumped one side, the other would start to leak => wasteful. I tot about it, and yes, it means i could spend lesser time to be a cow when i return to work. Great! The MTBs also suggested Ameda, a more affordable brand. We went to the fair again the next day with my mum. Saw the booth selling Ameda pumps, set our foot in and got very good service. The lady who was really educated in lactation fed information to my mom who do not believe in breast feeding. We ended up buying the bundle set.
The bundle also include two glass bottles from nuturepure. It costed us $399. The bad thing about buying now is that the warranty would start upon purchase. However, they allowed pre-ordering whereby we just nd to pay 150 bucks deposit and the remaining upon delivery in Oct.

A closer view of Ameda Breast Pump.
And since breast pumping needs bottles to contain, we ended up buying glass milk bottles which are easily to cleaner and last longer.
Glass bottles of coz are fragile but they do not contain the BPA thingy which are harmful to babies.

We also got the siliskin which could protect the glass bottles from breakage. They looked cute right? Haha.. of coz... not cheap either. The cost of being parents.

17 weeks

Right after the wedding, the tummy started to show more obviously. Till now, i cannot feel any movements at all. Start to envy mothers-to-be who have felt that amazing flutters. Just went to the motherhood fair. A single unit automated breast pump from Avent would cost $229 and that price was on offer. Usual price is $299. Wonder if i should buy now. It's like too early leh... what do you think?
